Cerebral Palsy affects the brain's ability to control body movement and posture. While the brain injury itself doesn't worsen over time, the physical resulting symptoms—extreme muscle tightness, weakness, and joint deformities—absolutely will progress without active intervention. At DakshinRehab Moosapet, our goal is to prevent these secondary complications by teaching the child's brain new ways to control their body through neuroplasticity.

Spastic Diplegia
The most common form, causing severe stiffness primarily in the legs, leading to a "scissor gait". We focus heavily on lower limb elongation and gait training.

Hemiplegia
Affects one complete side of the body. We utilize constraint-induced movement therapies to force the brain to use the weaker limbs in daily tasks.

Dyskinetic CP
Fluctuating muscle tone causing writhing or jerky, uncontrollable movements. We focus on core stability and voluntary motor control techniques.

Ataxic CP
Characterized by severe shakiness and a wide-based, unsteady walk due to poor balance. We retrain deep proprioception to stabilize the child.
Building strength, preventing contractures, and promoting independence.
We evaluate the child's current gross motor milestones, spasticity levels, and postural reflexes to create a baseline for targeted goal-setting.
We utilize deep tissue mobilization, bracing recommendations, and gentle elongation techniques to prevent the tight muscles from permanently warping the growing bones.
We disguise intensive balance, reaching, and gait training as specifically designed games, keeping the child highly motivated and engaged.
Children learn and adapt best when they are having fun. DakshinRehab integrates proven neuro-rehabilitation concepts with highly interactive, gamified technology to ensure high compliance and maximum brain neuroplasticity.

The brain requires thousands of repetitions to learn a new motor skill or bypass damaged neurological pathways. Traditional repetitive exercises bore children quickly, halting progress. By using interactive biofeedback and exergaming, we trick the brain into performing hundreds of complex balance and coordination tasks enthusiastically.
Screen-based gamified therapies where the child controls the video game using their balance, forcing them to engage weak core muscles subconsciously.
Supported systems that allow children to practice walking mechanics safely, providing them the confidence to take steps without the immediate fear of falling.
Applying specific elastic tapes to the limbs to provide constant, gentle sensory feedback to the brain, reminding it to hold the joint in a better alignment.
For hemiplegia, gently restricting the strong arm in a cast to force the brain to exclusively re-map and utilize the weaker, ignored arm.
We work closely with orthotists to ensure AFOs (braces) are perfectly adjusted over time to support, rather than hinder, their therapy goals.

“Our goal isn't just to stretch tight muscles. It's to teach the child's brain how to actively control those muscles so they can explore the world independently.”— Dr. Swapnagandhi, Human Movement Specialist, Physiotherapist

Because a child's bones grow faster than their spastic muscles can stretch, CP often leads to severe secondary bone deformities if physiotherapy is neglected during growth spurts. Watch for these signs alerting you to intervene immediately.
Sudden Loss of Milestones — If a child who could previously crawl or stand suddenly loses that ability over a few weeks, indicating severe regression or contracture.
Visible Spinal Curving — Noticing that your child is chronically leaning to one side while seated in a wheelchair, which can lead to rapid, severe scoliosis.
Hip Dislocation Pain — Severe crying specifically when you try to change their diaper or separate their legs, strongly indicating a partially dislocated hip joint.
Inability to Straighten Joints — When an elbow, knee, or ankle becomes physically locked in a bent position (a fixed contracture) and cannot be pushed straight manually.
Severe Toe Walking — When the calf muscle becomes so tight that the child's heel physically cannot touch the ground anymore, eventually deforming the foot bones.
Frequent Unexplained Crying — Because children with severe CP may struggle to communicate, crying often indicates hidden joint pain or pressure sores from braces.

Children who are late to hit milestones like sitting, crawling, or walking but do not have a formal CP diagnosis.

Severe muscular imbalances inherently pull the growing spine out of alignment, creating curved or twisted backs.

Rehabilitation following an early childhood stroke, focusing intensely on preventing complete loss of function in the affected limbs.

Children without CP who habitually walk on their toes due to sensory issues or isolated tight Achilles tendons.
